Payment

How does the fee work?

how does the payment work?

All Social Security lawyers get paid the same way.

We work on contingency, which means we only get paid if we win. So if you don’t get any money at the end of the case, neither do we. That means that we want to win your case, because if we don’t win, then we have worked for free.

If we win your case, then Social Security will pay us the LESSER of 25% of your backdue benefits (not your monthly checks) or the statutory cap. The cap is a set amount to limit how much an attorney can be paid for their work. For cases up to November 30, 2022, the cap is $6,000, but it increased to $7,200 after December 1, 2022. So no matter how much the backdue benefits are, we will not receive a fee greater than the cap.

When you come into our office for an appointment, we will go over the fee agreement that sets out payment. That agreement is sent to Social Security, and allows them to pay us directly. So you will not have to worry about the fee itself when your case is granted.

If you have any questions about the fee or how it works, call us at (985) 626-1002. Remember, you will never have to pay us anything directly for a consultation or to represent you.
